Ha Ha Tonka State Park: This park has over 10 miles of trails, including a trail to the ruins of a 19th-century mansion. The trail to the ruins is challenging due to its steepness and its length.
Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge Trail System: This trail system has a variety of trails, ranging from easy to challenging. The most challenging trails are those that lead to the highest elevations in the refuge.
Homestead National Historical Park Trail System: This trail system has a variety of trails, ranging from easy to challenging. The most challenging trails are those that lead to the ruins of homesteads that were abandoned during the Dust Bowl.

Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center Trail System: This trail system has a variety of trails, ranging from easy to moderate. The trails are all relatively short and are a great option for families with young children.

Where to get permits for trails:

Permits are not required for most trails in Nebraska. However, there are a few trails that require permits, such as the Homestead National Historical Park Trail System. Permits can be obtained at the park office.(402) 223-3514
